All the ladybirds are safe and he's gonna be fine. Just a few small puncture wounds that've been cleaned up and checked out.

He wants me to tell you all..."You should see the other guy!"

Update: Thank you all for the kind words. He's back home safe and cuddling with his bondmate, Karoo. He's

gotten plenty of peas and we've got mealworms ready for breakfast along with some light pain meds and antibiotics.

Couple other answers to repeat questions:
via JayDubMaxey
1. Yes, we know his name means "crow"...all our birds were given names from avian-related One Piece characters. (Karoo, Karasu, Nami-Swan, Robin, Mihawk, and Doflamingo.)
via JayDubMaxey
2. The hawk actually ended up trapped between some thick growth that our birds use for cover and our chain link fence. It was pretty eerie...just sat there motionless with its wing
via JayDubMaxey
pinned against the fence, staring at me with its beak wide open. I managed to free the hawk with a rake I had nearby and it hauled a away.

3. He's very protective of Karoo, so I'm not surprised he tried to defend her...he'll square up to our 100lb dog and any human getting too close to her. But if

I'm being honest, I am a little surprised he was successful. He had some issues with his legs that some Peking ducks get from growing too quickly and

although he walks normally now after some therapy...he's still not exactly the most nimble and quick warrior. But hey, he got the job done!

kasakavii What a good boy! I would have never expected that a duck would try to defend the flock from a hawk. Absolutely behavior. bada

front_yard_duck_dad I had an Indian runner duck named gidget. That duck thought that it was a pterodactyl. It would start sh with Canadian geese all of the time despite being a fraction of their size
via front_yard_duck_dad
I swear the Canadian geese would look at me like " is this mouthy little house duck for real?"

I also had a huge Cayuga named Connie. She was the boss b and I mean her attitude was unmatched. She would charge neighbor dogs if they even looked at her funny. She was over 10 lb. So for a duck she had some weight to throw around and you could hear her quack half a mile down the road

Yanushka89 I just wanna say, truly, it warms my heart so much when I see posts like this. You're a good one. As a kid I grew up on a farm and a vet visit for injured animals was just not a thing. I

was always so worried about our animals getting hurt. What a lucky duckie

JayDubMaxey OP He's definitely full-fledged family.
